Managing your board Automations

Using monday automations is a game changer when it comes to streamlining your daily workflow. It's important to manage all of the automations you have set up so you can continue to automate everything you need, freeing up your time for bigger tasks.

In this article, we'll walk you through how to manage your automations directly from the board Automations page.

You can also easily manage your automations and integrations from the Autopilot hub

Edit an automation

Once you've added Automations to your board, click on the Automation button to open the board Automations page, and then click on the Manage tab to manage your automations.

To edit your automation, click on the three dot menu next to the automation you'd like to edit and click on Edit:Group 1 - 2025-09-10T095906.837.png

This will open the automation builder where you can add, edit, or remove blocks to alter your automation.

In the editor you can view the automation's Run History. You can click on a run to view its details, including the item that the automation was performed on and who triggered the automation:Group 64 - 2024-10-29T170644.470.png

In the Info tab you can see who created the automation and when, when it was last updated, and the Workflow entity ID:Group 1 - 2026-03-16T154258.037.png

In the Analytics tab you'll see the last 10 days of the automation's activity. You can see how many successful , failed, and in progress runs have occurred. You can also see how many actions have been used by this automation:Screenshot 2024-10-29 at 17.10.22 1.png

Turn an automation on/off

You can turn an automation on or off in the automation builder by toggling the switch at the top of the screen:Group 1 - 2026-03-16T154448.171.png

Give your automation a description

When you begin to use automations more often, keeping track of what each of automation does can get confusing for you and your teammates. Click on Add description at the bottom of the automation to add your description so other team members can know exactly what it is for.Group 2 (14).png

You can also toggle the automation on or off in the board Automations page under the Manage tab:Group 2 (15).png

Note: Deleted automations cannot be restored, and will need to be recreated. To deactivate the automation without permanently deleting it, use the toggle to the right of the automation, and select Off.

Duplicate an automation

To duplicate an automation, click on the three dots next to the automation you want to duplicate and click on Duplicate.

Tip: When boards and templates are duplicated, automations can be included in the duplicates as long as they are toggled On in the board Automations page.

Save an automation as a template

You can save your custom automation as a template and make it available for anyone in your monday.com account to use. You'll find the option in the three dot dropdown menu:Group 2 (17).png

Choosing a name for your template will help others in your account to understand what it is for and how they can use it. After your choose a name, click on Save as template.Screenshot 2025-10-12 at 20.38.30 1.png

Remember, you can only create a template out of a custom automation.

If you want to delete your automation, you will also find this option in the three dot menu:

Transfer ownership of an automation

You can transfer ownership from one person to another person with a few clicks. This is ideal if you want a teammate to take over a board or one automation on a board.

By transferring ownership, you grant them the ability to edit any automations that you (or another person) have created.

To transfer ownership, click on the three dot menu and click on Transfer ownership:Group 2 (19).png

A window will open that asks you to select the new owner from a dropdown menu. You can type in a name to search. After you've selected the new owner, click the Transfer ownership button:Group 1 - 2025-10-12T204255.307.png

After clicking the button, the window will close and you'll see a notification at the top of the screen confirming the that the transfer was successful:Group 2 (20).png

Note: Currently, you can transfer ownership of automations and certain integrations. It is not possible to transfer disabled automations if the ownership has not been changed prior to the deactivation.

From the Administration section

If you are an admin of your account, you can transfer automation from the Administration section of your account. To transfer ownership, click on your profile picture and then on Administration.

Next, click on the Directory tab on the left hand side and on the Automations ownership tab:Group 1 - 2025-10-12T204622.948.png

When deactivating users on your account, you can also transfer ownership of automations and certain integrations previously owned by that user. You will need to choose a default owner that will gain access to these automations and integrations.

Once you have chosen your default owner, then click on Save changes. Now if a user is deactivated, their automations and integrations will automatically be transferred to the default owner, therefore preventing broken automations.

Note: To successfully transfer ownership, the transfer must occur before the user is deactivated.

Transfer ownership of an integration

To transfer ownership of an integration, follow the same instruction in the previous section about transferring ownership of an automation. However, there are a few key differences in functionality.

When transferring integrations they will automatically be disconnected until the new owner manually reconnects them. The following are integrations that can have their ownership transferred:

  • All static integrations
  • App integrations by monday.com, such as Jira and GitHub
  • Marketplace integrations
