The board views

At monday.com, we love to make everything visual: colors, graphs, shapes, and more! For this reason, we developed the amazing board views. The board views allow you to visualize your board's information in multiple ways, enabling you to analyze and report on your board data.  📊 📈 📉

Tip: Interested in seeing the different board views available on the monday.com mobile app? Check them out here!  😊

Add a view with Sidekick

Using Sidekick to create your board views is an efficient way to ensure your new views show you exactly what you need, by describing what you want to see! Sidekick turns your question into a ready-to-use view that you can refine using prompts.

Note: Using Sidekick to create views is only available for the TableGanttCalendarBatteryChart, and Numbers widgets.

Click the Sidekick button at the top of your screen, then ask a question about your data, such as how to track progress, set timelines, or manage workload. Sidekick recognizes reporting intent and offers you a visualization of the request as an image or the option to create a new board view with a supported widget or doc.

Tip: Start with a clear question, such as “Show number of book club members per month", to get closer to the view you want with fewer refinements.

The image generated by Sidekick isn't always identical to the board view that will be created. This visualization is meant for viewing your data within Sidekick. The board view created will still include the same essential data visualizations, but may look slightly different.

After the view is created, review the widgets and layout. You can ask Sidekick to make changes, like adjusting which data is shown or switching between supported widget types, until the view matches your needs! The view is added to your board’s views bar, where your team can open it like any other board view!

You can also add or delete widgets from an existing board view to keep building your data visualization to suit your needs.

Note: You cannot edit or change settings for an existing widget in Sidekick.

Add a view manually

To add a board view, click on the + icon located right below your board's title:

Note: You can add up to 100 board views per board! 💪

Tip: For more board view options, you can go to our Apps Marketplace and integrate one of the available apps as an additional view.

Switching between views

We offer the option to collapse the board header, allowing you to access or add board views from a single menu. This enables you to focus on what's most important and increase your work efficiency by avoiding unnecessary distractions.

Once you've added a view to your board, you can switch back to your main board view or another board view by selecting the dropdown arrow next to the board view name.

If you choose to expand the board header, your board views will appear as tabs at the top of your board. To expand the board header, click on the dropdown arrow to the right of your board header.

Lock a view to prevent unwanted edits

Do you have a view that you worked hard on to filter to your specific needs? Have you set up a table view with specific configurations that you don't want others to modify? Luckily, you can now lock a view that you created to prevent others from changing it!

Note: The ability to lock a view is only available on our Pro and Enterprise plans.

To do this, click on the three-dot menu to the right of a view that you created and select Lock view. On the following screen, click Lock view again to confirm the change.

Note: Aside from app views, all views are supported for locking. Additionally, board owners and account admins will also be able to edit a view that you locked.

Pin your views

As the board owner, you can pin multiple views to keep the important ones visible immediately when opening your board. To pin a board view, click on the view and select the three dots to the right of the view's name. From the menu that appears, select Pin view

Tip: To unpin a view, follow the same steps as above, and select "Unpin view" from the dropdown menu.

You can move pinned views around amongst other pinned views, but not between the views that have not been pinned. Once these views are pinned, other board members will not be able to reorder them.

Note: Only board owners can pin views on the board. If you are not the owner of that board, you will not see the option to pin a view.

Hide main table

Board owners or account admins can choose to hide the main table for other users on the board, reducing the number of board views for members and showcasing only the relevant board views for the team. To hide the main board table, click the three dots to the right of the view name, then select Hide main table.

While the main table will still be visible to the board owner and account admins, all other users with access to the board will see the first board view after the main table as their initial view and will not have access to the main table.

BC- Hidden Main Table.png

Note: When users create a new table view from scratch without applying any filters, those with permission to view all items on the board will still be able to see everything. This allows users to effectively 'recreate' the main table as a new board view.

If there is only one additional board view on a board, users will not be able to delete it, even if they have permission to delete views.

Note: The main table can only be hidden if there is at least one other board view, and can only be hidden by the board owner or account admin.

Reorder your views

Each team member can customize the order of their board views to suit their personal preferences, creating a fully tailored workflow. To rearrange your views, simply drag and drop them to the desired location.

You can also reorder your views using the views dropdown for a quick adjustment.

Note: Once you've arranged your views in the way you like, the order will remain the same until you decide to change it. View order is saved individually, so each team member can maintain their own unique arrangement.

Sharing views publicly

Publish your boards, embed them in your website, and make them accessible to everyone on the web! Check out how it works right here

Note: The three-dot menu on the View tab will only appear when you are in that view. To access the menu for another view that you are not in, right-click on the view tab.

Export your board views

Easily share the current state of your board view with colleagues by exporting your widgets to various file formats.

To export your board view, click the Export button in the top-right corner, then select a format from the list that appears.

Note: You can currently export only the table views of a board using Export to Excel, including the Main board table and saved filters. However, features like grouping, sorting, and conditional coloring are not included in the export. Other board views cannot be exported to Excel, and there are no customization options for export.

You can also schedule an export of your board view to ensure timely access to your board's data. Click the Export button, then select Schedule PDF export from the list that appears.

33359952336146

From the window that appears, you can fill in the details for your export, such as the team members to send it to, the subject line, description, scheduled export date, and PDF layout. Once you've filled in all the details, click the Schedule button in the bottom-right corner.

Restoring deleted views

You can easily reinstate a deleted board view through your activity log. To find the activity log, click your profile image in the top-right corner of your board. This will open the activity log for that particular board, displaying all changes and updates made to the board. From here, you can select the Undo button next to your deleted view.

Customizable Board views with AI

Building a customizable board view has never been easier! Use the AI prompt to describe what you want your widgets to display in the board view, saving you time and improving productivity. Note: The AI board view prompt is only available on Enterprise and Pro accounts that have AI enabled.

Once added, you can begin to describe what you would like to see in your widgets by typing a prompt into the AI text block. Your prompt should outline the information you would like to see in your widgets. The AI board view builder can only generate results for the TableGanttCalendarBatteryChart, and Numbers widgets.
