The Overview Widget

With this awesome widget, keeping track of your projects has never been easier! The Overview Widget gathers and summarizes progress from your selected boards and columns into a single place. This is a great way to get a high-level picture of what's happening for each project and overall! 🤸‍♀️

Note: This feature can only be used in a Dashboard, not a Board view, and is available only on our Pro and Enterprise plans.

Create a Dashboard

To begin, create a dashboard by clicking on the + icon in your left-hand pane, and select Dashboard from the dropdown menu. Give your dashboard a title, and choose which boards you want connected to it in the following screen.

Note:You can use monday magic to build and set up workspaces for you, including creating dashboards, all with a single prompt!

Add the widget

Click on the + Add Widget button in the top left of your dashboard, select More widgets from the bottom of the dropdown menu, and search for Overview from within the  Widget Center.  Finally, click on the Add widget button.

Widget settings

The Overview Widget will pull data from a Date or Timeline column and a Status column on your boards.  Ensure that your connected boards include these columns for the widget to pull the correct data.

Once your columns have been added to your board, click the three dots in the top-right corner of your Overview widget in your dashboard, then choose Settings from the dropdown menu.

How it works

Now that your widget is set up, you can take a look at it to see where you stand on all your projects!

  • Each row in your Overview Widget represents a connected board.
  • The Name column displays the name of your board
  • The Dates column displays the earliest and latest dates for each project's timeline.
  • The project's Progress is displayed as a battery-style bar that shows the project's overall progress. The grey represents the number of tasks left to complete, and the blue represents the number of tasks marked as Done.
  • The Status column displays an automatically generated label based on your project's status and deadlines:

Completed: When you've completed all your tasks, a green label labeled Completed will appear.

On track: When you're on track with your tasks, a blue label will signal that you've completed most tasks by the deadline, and your project is advancing at a great pace!

At risk: When you have approaching or past deadlines and a few tasks left to do, you'll see a yellow At risk label.

Behind schedule: When you aren't keeping up with several tasks, and the deadlines are past or quickly approaching, you'll see a red Behind schedule warning label.
