The Activity Log

Are you wondering how to keep track of your team's activity? The Activity Log is your answer. Track board changes in one place to stay in the loop at all times.

Locating the Board Activity Log

The Board Activity Log shows all a board's past activity in a single list! Here, you can see changed Dates, Statuses, movement between groups, and much more!

To get to the Activity Log of your board, click the Profile icon in the top right corner of your board.

How it works

The information displayed in the Board Activity Log varies depending on your plan.

Each entry in the log is made up of this structure (from left to right):

  • When the change was made
  • Who made the change
  • The item or group name where the change was made
  • The column where the change was made
  • The previous value -> The new value

Note: The Activity Log does not track any updates added to an item; it only tracks changes made to the item itself.

See AI-Powered actions

You can see AI-Powered actions that have been performed on the board, and by whom, by selecting the AI Powered tab from the top of your activity log. All AI actions will appear with the profile icon of the user who initiated the action, as well as an icon indicating it is AI-Powered.

You can even see the changes made by the Automations you set on your board! For example, here's a list of the Automations we use for this board:

Once an Automation has been triggered, the Board Activity Log is updated with the changes it was programmed to make! The robot icon representing Automations appears where the person who made the change.

The Item Activity Log

The Item Activity Log tracks all updates to a single item, giving you a complete history of changes and the exact times they occurred. Unlike the Board Activity Log, which displays activity across the entire board, this log shows only updates related to the specific item you select. To open it, click anywhere in the item’s first column to open the item card, then select the Activity Log tab at the top of the Updates section. Updates are displayed in descending order, with the most recent changes shown at the top.

The Item Activity Log can also help you track when an item has been:

  • Created
  • Duplicated
  • Deleted
  • Archived
  • Restored

Tip:  If you hover your mouse over the update's date, you will see the exact date and time the update was posted!

Filter your Activity Log

Sometimes the Activity Log can get lengthy with updates. To find specific entries or filter updates, click the Person icon to filter by who made the change, or click on the Filter Log button to open options. You can filter by person, time, group, or column on both the main activity log and your item activity log.

Note: The "Filter Log" option is only available on the Pro and Enterprise plans. The Basic and Standard plans can only filter by "Person" to see who made the change.

The Subitem Activity Log

Looking to track the actions you and your team took on a board's Subitems? We created an Activity Log for your Subitems for this exact purpose!

To access the Subitems Activity Log, simply click on a Subitem to open it up and then select Activity Log. Here, you'll find an ongoing list of the actions performed on that given Subitem. 🙌

Undoing or restoring a deleted item

Items cannot be undone or restored directly from the activity log since it records what activity was done and by whom.

To restore or unarchive deleted items, check out this article, which will walk you through the exact steps. If you are looking to undo an action you've just taken, head to this article to learn more!

Export to Excel

You can even export your Item, Subitem, or Board Activity Log to Excel! It's really simple! Just click the Excel icon at the top-right of your screen in the Activity Log tab, then open the file created!
